A beautiful soul has gone home. I will always cherish the years that Nita was my friend. She helped me through some difficult times and we rejoiced together in the good times. She had a way of setting you straight when you needed it but was never unkind. To me she was the perfect example of a Christian and her love for others showed through in everything she did.

Don and I have such wonderful memories of Nita and Bill beginning many years ago from worshipping together at Landmark. Early on they were so good to include our two youngest children, who had no living grandparents, in their many camping trips with their own grandchildren. Many fond memories were made camping with Nonie and Pa! As the years passed, one of our daughters married one of Nita's grandsons....thus creating a lasting family connection, especially as we shared grandchildren! As yet another daughter got married at Landmark, Nita never failed to mention how much she liked their wedding music! Their recessional music was "Sentimental Journey." Nita always commented on this and how sweet it was...after all, she and Bill had lived that sentimental journey! Latter years found Nita in an assisted living making everyone feel at home and sharing her faith...simply by rolling her walker down the hallway with her Bible on top! She was so helpful to encourage and include another one of our family members at this same assisted living. She had a way of making others aware of what was right and the best thing to do. She would say she had rather be in her own home, but the Lord had placed her in assisted living and she was going to make the best of it and be happy! Nita was a true Christian ....loving, kind, joyful, sharing her faith, and offering correction when needed! I have no doubt that Nita walked the Walk and evangelized until her last breath this side of eternity! Until we meet again, Nonie....

Mrs. Royal has known me since I was an infant as she cared for me in the church nursery. She loved to tell the story of how when I was a toddler I would lay my head in her lap and sleep during worship because we always sat on the same pew as she and Bill. She also had no problem calling me out when I wasn't living a Christian life as a teenager. She was a wonderful Christian woman who loved with all her heart. She definitely impacted my whole life!

And so goodbye to another sweet cousin. Her sweet and positive attitude was a blessing to those around her. I especially appreciate her help with pictures for the Mitchell family history. Love you, Nita.
