Martha Jo Sasser

Mrs. Sasser graduated from Troy State University and taught school for 34 years in Butler and Montgomery Counties. She was a proud member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sasser is survived by her son, McHeartland “Lanny” Sasser, Jr. (Leigh) of Pike Road, AL; four grandchildren (Emily, Sam, Skylar and Cade); one sister Lanelle Carter of Enterprise, AL; a sister-in-law, Sybil Merlene Hughes of Gantt, AL; brother-in-law, Donnie Ray Sasser (Brenda) of Brookhaven, MS; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, McHeartland Sasser, Sr.; brothers, J.W. Rountree (Elizabeth) of Red Level, AL; Billy Rountree (Ann) of Lynn Haven, FL; and brother-in-law, Bence Carter of Enterprise, AL. The family would also like to recognize the very special friends of Mrs. Sasser Luke Green (Rose), Wilson Depriest (Joyce) and Penny Viles.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Bence Carter, Dr. Andy Bruce Carter, Adam Carter, Aaron Carter, Alex Carter, Andrew Kariakos.

A Family and Friends Visitation will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109 followed by a Celebration of Life Graveside Service at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109 with Dr. Rick Marshall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha Jo's memory may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
