Myrtle Verdis Waid passed away on December 3, 2018 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Effie Lou Roberts; her brothers, Hobert Roberts, William Roberts, Willie Roberts; her sisters, Virgie Cheney, Magdeline Bagwell, Myrl Brown; and her son, Billy Waid. She is survived by her children, Norma Moncrief (Ben), Karl Waid, Winfrid Waid; her daughter-in-law, Jane Waid; as well as 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Myrtle was a devoted member of One Community Church, and loved her church family. She took great pride in being a good wife and mother, and attended her children’s sports events and worked in the concession stand to help the team. Myrtle was a generous lady who considered it one of her greatest joys to work with and volunteer for the Salvation Army. She was a huge supporter of the Disabled Veterans of America.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 5:00pm-7:00pm, and also on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 1:00-2:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 2:00pm at Leak Memory Chapel with a burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
