Shirley Bodiford Bradham, age 84, succumbed after a short and severe battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ellerson C. Bradham; her parents, Burney and Bessie Bodiford; and her sister, June Bodiford Allen. She leaves behind her loving children, Brenda Carmichael, Stacey Porter (Brandon), Capers Bradham; her granddaughters, Tiffany Carmichael, Rachel Garrette (Jacob); grandsons, Dillon, Darren and Dayton Porter; a great grandson, Callen Garrette, whose brother’s birth is imminent. She is also survived by her siblings who adored her, Kenneth Bodiford (Betty), Louise Hutto, Jimmy Bodiford (Shirley), Janice DePoorter (Win); her niece, Mary Frances Hartley (Earl) and many other nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a long-time active member of the Highland Gardens Baptist Church where she enjoyed so many great friends. They’ve said that she was the strength of their group and their prayers have sustained her throughout this illness. In addition to her loving involvement with her granddaughters and grandsons, she shared birthday celebrations throughout the year with sisters and friends from childhood. On the surface, Shirley was as sweet and easygoing as they come, but feisty when challenged. Her spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew her and called her mom, sister and friend. Without a doubt, she is now in paradise and hurts no more.
The Funeral Service will be at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday, March 8, 2018 at 3:00pm with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a word of thanks to Amedysis Hospice for their excellent care the past few weeks.
