Shirley Janette Walker Stamey

Shirley Janette Walker Stamey, 73, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 29, 2010, while at the Taylor Family Care, Valdese. Born August 9, 1937, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Walker and Pearl Triplett Walker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stamey was also preceded in death by her husband, Arrie Anderson Stamey, a son, Ted Stamey, three sisters, Willadean Reep, Betty Grindstaff and Edith Walker and a brother, Kenneth Walker.. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Stamey is survived by two sons, Joey Stamey and wife, Tina Corder and Terry Stamey, all of Valdese; a brother, William Walker, of Hickory; six grandchildren, Kristena and husband, Allen Buff, Destiny, Victoria, Mackenzie and Anderson; a great grandchild, Rayanne and several nieces and nephews also survive her.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stamey will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 1, 2011, in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton, with Reverend George Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park, Morganton. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, December 31, 2010, at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton.
