Robert was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. After returning home he went to work at Citgo Petroleum and retired from there after 36 years. He was a member of the VFW. He also worked with the Lake Charles Housing Authority. Robert loved to play the guitar and often met with friends to do a little guitar picking.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Michael, wife Jan, of Colorado and Wayne of Lake Charles; one daughter, Nadine Parton of Moss Bluff; grandsons, Brian, wife Tori, of Colorado and Jeremy Midkiff of Moss Bluff; one great grandson, Tanner of Colorado; and one sister, Sylvia Fontenot of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy (Koonce) Jones; his parents, five brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter, Sybil.
Services will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 1:00pm. Visitation will begin at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff at 11:00am on Friday until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
