Obituary of Anita Kay Lange
Anita Kay Lange, 88, passed away from the loving arms of her family on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Morrison Woods Legacy Memory Care. Anita was born in Marion, Indiana, on May 13, 1935, the daughter of Harry and Berniece Scott. She graduated from Marion High School. Anita’s musical journey began in her early years with the accordion, a talent that evolved into proficiency in playing the piano and organ. Many mornings, Anita began her day with the soothing notes of the organ, a cherished ritual that brought her immense joy. The melodies resonating from the keys set the tone for her day, creating a harmonious start filled with the music she loved. Anita found great delight in both square and ballroom dancing. Many evenings were spent at the Grand Spinners Square Dance Club alongside her late husband, Kenneth Thurston. After fifty-one years of marriage, Anita faced the loss of Kenneth. In the chapters that followed, she met David Lange. Together, they shared not only the remaining years of her life but also the warmth of family. Above all else, Anita loved spending time with her family. Those memories will forever be woven into the hearts of those she held dear. Anita is survived by her husband, David Lange; her son, Mark (Marsha) Thurston; grandchildren, Drew (Kodi) Thurston, Chase (Amanda) Thurston, and Christopher Thurston; great-grandchildren, Kenneth Riley Thurston, Eli Thurston, Addison Thurston, Emma Thurston, Luke Thurston, Mason Thurston, and Miles Thurston; and siblings, Bill (Karen) Scott, Connie (Dave) Hartenbower, and Linda (Harry) Johnson. Anita was preceded in death by her first husband of fifty-one years, Kenneth Thurston; her son, Kenneth Scott Thurston; and her parents. Family and friends may call from 11:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
