He was born January 31, 1931, in Muncie, the son of Fred and Grace Beatrice (Forbs) Turner.
Bill graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1948. Bill's career included working at Durham Manufacturing as a Maintenance Supervisor, McCormick Brass as a Maintenance Supervisor, Selma Wire Products as Plant Manager and at Borg Warner as a Machine Repairman and retired in May of 1997. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, NASCAR racing, golfing with his golf buddy, Dale Rodgers and working in his yard, Bill was a "Mr. Fix-it" and could fix anything. His memberships include the First Baptist Church of Muncie, where he was an usher. Mr. Turner served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955. Bill married the love of his life, Barbara Diane McMullin on February 10, 1951. They enjoyed traveling and spending time in Clearwater Beach, Florida and spending summertime here at Lake George. But first and foremost he enjoyed spending time with his sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Barbara Diane (McMillin) Turner; two sons, Scott R. Turner (wife Lori), and Tim J. Turner (wife Valerie); daughter-in-law, Lisa Turner; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Fisher (husband Donavan), Jonathan Turner (wife Rebecca), Rebekah Turner; Kaliq Turner, Garrett Turner, Keanna Turner, Carson Turner, and Fawn Turner; three great-grandchildren, Emma Turner, Micaiah Fisher, and one on the way in July.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Turner and Grace B. Turner Bradburn; one son, Richard "Rick" Turner and two sisters, Twila Turner and Geraldine Moore.
Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church, 309 E. Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana 47305 with Rev. Dr. Wade Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery with Military Rites by Delaware County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Tuesday at the church.
