Denzil Mae Gartman

Denzil Mae Gibson (Pate) Gartman passed away on April 21, 2018 in Chireno, Texas. She was born on June 10, 1924 at home in San Augustine County, Texas to parents, William Gibson and Emma Ethel Pate Gibson.

Denzil married Joe Felix Gartman, the love of her life, January 30, 1965. She was a Food Inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 25 years, member of the Eastern Star for 59 years, and co-founder of Cottingham Hunting Club, 1978 to present. Denzil was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Felix Gartman; parents, Bill and Stella Gibson and Ethel and Tommy Donahoe; sister, Hazel Jamison.

She is survived by children; Darrell and Carol Pate of Chireno, Juanita Hampton of Chireno, Billy and Sondra Pate of Anaheim Hills, CA, and Pam and Mike Metteauer of Chireno; grandchildren, Kevin Pate, Brandon Pate, Brett Pate, Teresa Brod, Krissy Laskoskie, Melinda Murray, Shana Smith and Eric Metteauer; 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; sister, Joy Ray; sisters-in-law, Virginia Rodgers and Noreita Gartman.

Funeral services will be held, 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 24, 2018, Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
