They moved from D.C. to Pittsburgh, PA after Ivan retired from government work early in their marriage. While in Pennsylvania they began their lifelong love of restaurant operation.
Their only child Morene was born in Pittsburgh March 25, 1948 where they had set down roots. The family remained in Pittsburgh until Morene married in 1967 & moved with her husband to Anchorage, AK where he was stationed in the Air Force.
Ruth and Ivan returned to the D.C. area moving to Fairfax, VA for a few years operating a larger restaurant closer to her mother. In 1971 they moved to Naples and opened Ivanhoe’s Restaurant in the Naples Shopping Plaza. Ruth & Ivan loved the SW Florida sun & golf and after many years operating the larger restaurant they decided to scale back to a shorter work day & began their years of Country Club sandwich shop operation. They ran the restaurant at Forest Lakes CC for many years then ran the sandwich shop High Point CC.
