James "Sonny" Welck Jr., 73, of Brentwood, passed away on March 28, 2024. Born in Nashville on October 18, 1950, to the late James Allen Welck Sr. and Anne Brown Welck. Sonny was a beloved member of his community and leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication.
Sonny graduated from West End High School and embarked on a remarkable career in financial advising, spanning an impressive 45 years. His expertise and commitment earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sonny had many passions in life. He found solace and joy in tending to his garden, where he nurtured vibrant blooms and lush foliage. An avid player of pickleball, Sonny embraced the camaraderie and competition of the sport with enthusiasm. He had a natural gift for mentoring, guiding others with wisdom and kindness. However, above all else, Sonny cherished his role as a grandfather. His love for his grandchildren, Sawyer, Christopher, Clara, and Mary Anna, knew no bounds, and he delighted in every moment spent with them.
Sonny is survived by his loving children, Jimmy (Elayne) Welck, and Christy Fellers, his cherished grandchildren, siblings Barbara Odom, Jean Smith, close friends Jill Campbell and Jack Jolly Jr., and numerous dear friends whose lives he touched profoundly.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 4th, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A service will be held Friday, April 5th the following day at 2:00 PM, preceded by one hour of visitation, with burial to follow.
In honor of Sonny's generous spirit and compassionate nature, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers. Sonny's legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the hearts he uplifted. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
