David Paul Thomas, 89, passed away Saturday, June 16 2018. The son of the late Bernard and Verna Gray Thomas, David was born October 3, 1928 in New Albany, Indiana. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. David retired from the Louisville Courier-Journal in 1993 after 47 years of service and was past president of the International Circulation Managers Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris J. (Barker) Thomas; brothers, James Leo, William, and Carl E. Thomas; and sisters, Catherine Meneou and Ruth A. Miller.
Survivors include his children, Debra Garrett, Dennis Thomas (Brenda), and Denise Phelps (Richard); sister, Mary Helen Blake-King; grandsons, Nathaniel Garrett (Joy) and David (Chris) and Gregory Thomas; and great grandchildren, Eli David Garrett and Amelia Elizabeth Garrett.
Visitation will be 2 pm ~ 8 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. His Funeral Service will be 11 am Thursday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
