Donald Ferreira

Donald Ferreira, 88, of Acushnet, passed away on October 31, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elsie (Dias) Ferreira.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Edmund E. and Alice P. (Howland) Ferreira, he had resided in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Acushnet in 2013.

Mr. Ferreira had worked in the maintenance department at Edaville Railroad for over 20 years until his retirement. He previously worked at Sunbeam Bakery for 20 years.

He was a former member of the Sixth Bristol Club and the Mt. Carmel Seniors Club. He enjoyed playing Bingo and trips to Foxwoods.

His family includes a son, Robert Ferreira and his wife Denise Fournier of New Port Richie, FL; two daughters, Lu-Ann Mello and her husband Antone of Dartmouth and Alice Pelletier and her husband Michael of New Bedford; a brother, Edmund Ferreira and his wife Shirley of Londonderry, NH; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; also survived by Dennis Gouveia of New Bedford and Sharon Kaminski of Assonet who were like a son and daughter. He was brother of the late Theresa Ruth and Thomas Ferreira. A special thank you to his granddaughter, Channing for all the extra love and support she gave him.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 p.m. For online tributes, please visit: www.rock-funeralhome.com

Dad, going to miss our daily routine of drs ,cigs, candles for mom,breakfast and checking the oil tank. We did our best supporting each other thru good times and bad .You and Mom were the greatest I am so grateful to have you in my life as long as I did. Now you and mom can go on your long rides again, give her a hug and kiss until I see you two again .I love you xoxo

Donald Ferreira, 88, of Acushnet, passed away on October 31, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elsie (Dias) Ferreira.
