Hollus Sylvester Pittsley, Sr., age 94, of New Bedford, passed away in The Oaks Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was the husband of the late Irene (Souza) Pittsley who passed away February 5, 2019 and with whom he shared 44 loving years of marriage.
Born in Hiles, Wisconsin, a son of the late William and Nellie (Raymond) Pittsley, he was the last of his 14 siblings. Hollus was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, where he served as Military Police and Weapons System Maintenance Supervisor and later worked as an auto mechanic for J.R.’s Auto. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, watching old black and white television shows, western movies and most of all loved reminiscing about his life.
He is survived by his son, Hollus Pittsley, Jr. and his partner Kim Ivey of Iron River, MI; 3 step-children, Linda Rodriques and her partner Dennis Mazzuchelli of New Bedford, Cindy Ferreira and her wife Belinda Sherman of New Bedford and Kathy Chabot and her husband Brian of Acushnet; 7 grandchildren, Benjamin Pittsley, Scott Klein, Deanne Marshall, Jodi Rodriques, Samantha Morgan, Mack Chabot, and Molly Chabot.
His visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. with a service at 4:30 p.m. in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be private. For online tribute/directions www.rock-funeralhome.com.
