Jeannette Claire Grenon

June 4, 1932June 9, 2021

Jeannette C. (Robert) Grenon passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2021 surrounded by loved ones following a courageous, multi-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was the wife of the late Roger Grenon with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. She was also the companion of the late Edward Figueira with whom she shared over 10 years. Born in New Bedford, the only daughter of the late Laurent and Evelyn (Frechette) Robert, she was a lifelong resident of the area. Jeannette’s parents owned and operated Robert’s Market on Ashley Blvd. Jeannette was a full-time homemaker and mother who took great pride in her home and raising her children. In her early years, Jeannette enjoyed dancing, bowling and skiing with Roger and their family. In their retirement years, Jeannette enjoyed golfing with Roger, annual trips to Florida, going to dinner with friends, watching The Price is Right and attending her grandchildren’s various sporting events and dance recitals. Jeannette was also an avid professional sports fan and enjoyed watching golf as well as supporting the local sports teams, especially the New England Patriots. Jeannette enjoyed spending time with her family most of all, especially her grandkids. Her family will remember time spent in the doll house, Christmas Eve, playing Pick-Up Sticks, Saturday night sleepovers, feeding the ducks, eating her famous soups and trips to Ma’s Donuts. Jeannette was known for her strong faith and was a devout communicant of St. Mary’s Church in New Bedford.

Jeannette is survived by her two daughters, Diane Pepin and her husband Brian Pepin of Acushnet, Pauline O’Brien and her husband James O’Brien of Rochester; her son Donald Grenon and his wife Patricia of Somerset; 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Pepin-Goldrick and her husband Nathan Goldrick, Bryanne Pepin, Trevor Grenon, Danielle Grenon, Katelyn O’Brien and Lauren O’Brien; her best friend and neighbor Hilda Fernandes; a niece and 2 nephews.

Jeannette and her family are forever grateful to the care and services that allowed her to remain in her home, as was her wish, until her passing. Specifically, they would like to extend thanks to: Coastline Elderly Services’ Home Care and PCA Departments, Community Nurse Home Care Hospice Department, BAYADA Home Health Care, her caregivers Hilda, Sylvia, Jo Ann (who loved her to the moon and back) and the many others who cared for her over the years.

Donations in her memory may be made to Community Nurse Home Care - 62 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719 or St. Mary’s Church - 106 Illinois St., New Bedford, MA 02745.

Her Memorial Mass will held on Friday, June 18,2021 at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford followed by her burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. To leave a note of condolence:

My condolences to the Grenon family. I remember her well from the bleachers at basketball games at St. Mary's and from sacramental liturgies when Kim and Briane celebrated them with Tim and Martha. I had no idea that she was stricken with Parkinson's Disease. May she enjoy restored wellness upon her entry into Paradise.
You're all in my prayers.
