Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Agapita (Valentin) Martinez, she came to New Bedford in the mid 1940’s and lived here most of her life.
Mrs. Marcial worked as a Sewing Machine Operator in New Bedford for many years. An active communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe for many years, she also enjoyed playing Bingo, drawing and time spent with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Carmen Healy and her husband Peter of Dartmouth; one son, Jose Toledo and his wife Rosa of Montgomery, IL; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Pedro A. Martinez and Jorge L. Martinez.
Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 8:30 AM from the Rock Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, 233 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
