Raymond A. Audette, age 82, of New Bedford, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 in Our Lady’s Haven in Fairhaven. He was the husband of Bertha J. (Lajoie) Audette to whom he had been married for 58 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Armand and Marie Rose (Hamel) Audette, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School and attended Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth. Mr. Audette was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was employed as an Assistant Supervisor with PCI Group Inc in New Bedford for 30 years.
Raymond enjoyed light houses, woodworking, camping with family when they were younger, bingo at Foxwoods, dancing and many trips to Disney.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four children, Diane M. Furtado and her husband Silverio of New Bedford, Pauline M. Searles and her husband Richard of W. Wareham, Suzanne M. Allen and her husband Dennis of W. Wareham and David R. Audette and his wife Elizabeth of Worthington, OH; nine grandchildren, Craig, Katelyn, Jessica, Nathan, Zachary, Ian, Nicholas, Olivia, and Harrison; two great grandchildren Adyson and Parker; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 8am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning from 8AM to 9:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Our Lady’s Haven Activities Fund, 71 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Bedford.
