Rita M. Lapre

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elvina (Cabral) Cosme, she had been a resident of E. Freetown since 1977.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1960.

Mrs. Lapre had worked as a customer service representative for Quality Oil in Acushnet for several years. She was a function manager at several local establishments. Rita also served as a traffic manager at WJFD and an account executive at WBSM.

Having great compassion and love for animals, Rita rescued many dogs and cats throughout the years. She also enjoyed reading and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Charlene Fahy, Charles Lapre and Cherie J. Lapre; and a niece, Clara Cosme. She was predeceased by her siblings, Antone Cosme and Sister Joan Rita Cosme, SSCC.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory can be made to CARE, Southcoast, Inc.

Private services were in the care of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
