Yvette Laurette (Bourgeois) Figueira, age 84, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, due to a long battle with Alzheimers disease at the home of her loving daughter and devoted caregiver, Debra, in Dartmouth Massachusetts.
Yvette was the devoted and loving wife of her late husband, Frank R Figueira Jr. with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage. Their relationship was a true example to all of genuine and selfless love along with laughter and companionship. It culminated in the birth of three sets of twins, of which two sets were premature. They poured their hearts and lives into the surviving set, Debra and Frank, and built a strong and devoted family.
Born in New Bedford to the late Paul Bourgeois Sr. and Lucille (Meunier) Bourgeois, she was the only daughter along with her four brothers, Paul Jr., Roland, Ronald and Rene.
Yvette was self employed as a Hair Stylist owning two salons in New Bedford, a career spanning over 50 years.
Yvette’s true passion was her family. She was an accomplished cook, enjoyed traveling and ice cream!
Yvette is survived by her devoted and loving caregivers and children, Debra Figueira of Dartmouth, and Frank R Figueira III and his partner, Stephen Toohey, of New Bedford. She is also survived by her brother Rene and his wife Patricia (Ruffino) Bourgeois of Mesa, Arizona. She had six nieces and nephews from late brothers.
She is also survived by a loving niece, Debra Ann (Mello) Lauzon and her husband Wayne, and daughter Kimberly.
Relatives and friends may call at the Rock Funeral Home in New Bedford on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. Private burial will take place at a later date.
