Mrs. Dorothy Jean DuBois Dye passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 after a short illness. Her family and friends were present to surround her with love during her last days.
She was born November 19, 1928 in Montpelier, Ohio. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, William Ernest Dye; her parents Paul DuBois and Lilah Doris Copeland DuBois; and her only sister, Marjorie Marilyn Krystyniak. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed traveling with her husband, who served in the Air Force for over 20 years. She was known as grandma to all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Debora Sue Goodrich and husband James of New Bern; Lori Jean Thigpen and husband Doyle of Snow Hill; her grandchildren Michael, Justin (and wife Mariah), Ashley and Melissa Goodrich and Hunter and Quentin Thigpen. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Jordan and Chandler Goodrich, Chelsea Valvez, Emma Oster, and Lucas Holton, all of New Bern and many nieces and nephews, who she enjoyed visiting during her travels.
Viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Cotten Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 pm at Lakeside Chapel, Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Ms. Dye.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Colonial Capital Humane Society P. O. Box 326, New Bern, NC 28563 or to Meals on Wheels 811 George St., New Bern, NC 28560.
