She was born April 23, 1929 to Clarence and Minnie Sears Parish Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years James Albert Pheasant, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her son James Allan Pheasant (Caren) of Enfield, CT; daughter Linda Obertach Fujiwara of New Bern, NC; 4 grandsons: Jason Pheasant (Kendra), Travis Obertach, and Christopher and Michael Fujiwara; 3 granddaughters: Jennifer Stacey (Ryan), Jammie Asevedo (Eddie) and Shannon Obertach; and 4 great granddaughters: Charity Opong, Makayla Stacey, Avalene Pheasant and Brianna Fujiwara.
Maxine was a life-time member of the Mt. Harmony Interdenominational Church of Fairmont, WV. She also attended the Nazarene Church in Washington, PA where she lived for 20 years and the Mt. Airy Baptist Church when living in Mt. Airy, MD. She gave back to her community in many ways and by volunteering her time at the St. James Thrift Shop in Mt. Airy, MD and the Helping Hand in New Bern, NC.
Mother Teresa said “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love”. Those who knew Maxine, knew the things she did, were done with great love. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed cooking and creating new dishes, designing jewelry, reading, art and drawing, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A gravesite (area KK) service will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Maryland at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 22, 2018.
