Jo was born in Brooklyn NY to August and Anne Borghese (nee Bonomo) in 1948. She graduated from Brooklyn College with cum laude honors. In 1971, she married the love of her life and best friend, Robert Cavaliere. The couple later moved to Rockland County to raise their family. Jo served the Nanuet Public School System in the District Administration office for over 25 years; in a role that fulfilled her passion for community, public service, and creativity. She regarded the Nanuet Public Schools as a second home that she always spoke fondly of.
Jo will be remembered for her quick, smart wit, her penchant for New York Times crossword puzzles, her knack for organization, and all things mathematical. Most of all she will be remembered for her tremendous spirit, kind heart, and how she made every person who walked into her home or office feel like close friends and family. Her greatest joy in life was to do everything possible to make her beloved husband, three daughters, and family happy.
Jo is survived by her partner and husband for 50 years Robert, her three daughters Anne, Reli, and Chrissie, her twin sister Mem, her niece Kathy, and her grandchildren Iona and Kee Kee. She was predeceased by her sister Sue, nephew Matthew, and her dear family pets Apple and Gussie. She will forever live on in the stories and hearts of all that knew her.
