Joe moved to New City from the Bronx in 1972 and was a resident of New City for 51 years. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Connie of 63 years and his three children Joseph (wife Audrey), Steven (wife Margarete), and Lisa (husband Philip). He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Michael (wife Valerie), Jennifer, Marissa, Matthew, Nicholas, and Anna, as well as his great grandson Jamie.
Joe was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Navy in 1956-57 aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. Joe was a fixture of the New City community, first as a coach and later President of New City Babe Ruth League. He was an active member of St. Augustine’s Church. He worked at the American Stock Exchange and later the NYSE until his retirement in 2000. After leaving Wall Street, he got involved with the Clarkstown Seniors and took pride in helping many of the seniors understand benefits and programs to help them financially.
Joe enjoyed life and was a friend to everyone. His family was the most important thing to him. He always looked forward to and was sure to be at all the family events whether it was a birthday, a holiday, his grandchildren’s sporting events or any reason to get together. He loved nothing more than seeing his family all together and never failed to share how blessed he felt.
A wake will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. A mass will be held at St. Augustine‘s Church in New City, NY on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
