Mary Lou Buzzetti passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in Suffern, New York. She was born and raised in East Harlem, New York and is predeceased by her parents (Louis and Rose Occhiuto) and her husband (Albert). Her mother passed away when she was an infant and she was raised by her father and her Aunt Jennie Occhiuto (“Ma”) who held a special place in her heart.
At the age of 38 with three young children (10, 8, and 7 years old) she started college and went back to work part time. She graduated Pace University with a B.A. in Finance and became an Administrator in the Finance Department at Rockland Community College after several years (a position she would hold for over 25 years until her retirement). She enjoyed many life long friends from childhood and also from her many years working for the College who she regularly saw until she fell ill 8 months ago.
Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who was selfless in every way. Despite school, work and raising 3 boys, dinner was always on the table for family and the many friends who convened at the Buzzetti’s on a regular basis. She was there for her family at all times.
She will be sorely missed by her 3 sons and their spouses, Barry (Sonia), Glen and Albert (Jacqueline) and her grandchildren who she loved with all of her heart (Anthony, Kaitlyn, Christie, Joseph and Natalie). A Christian Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 199 Walnut Street, Northvale, New Jersey at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
