Edith began her journey of service at a tender age, starting as a candy striper at her local hospital. Her dedication and passion for helping others led her to become an assistant librarian at Sulphur Public Library, where her warmth and kindness touched countless lives.
Driven by her desire to serve others, Edith pursued higher education, graduating from McNeese State University and Kentucky State, where she earned her nursing degree. Her thirst for knowledge didn't end there; she went on to obtain her Master's degree from the University of Arkansas, further equipping herself to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
In 1976, Edith embarked on a profound journey as a missionary in Papua New Guinea, where she served as a nurse until 1980. Her time there was marked by unwavering dedication and boundless compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the community she served.
Even upon returning home, Edith's commitment to service never wavered. She volunteered tirelessly, teaching CPR classes, providing support to hospice care and cancer groups, and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. Her involvement extended beyond the medical realm; she was deeply engaged in her children's school activities and their scouting groups, embodying the spirit of community and nurturing future leaders.
Edith's passion for archaeology led her to Poverty Point World Heritage Site in Pioneer, Louisiana, where her curiosity and love for history shone brightly.
In her moments of respite, Edith found solace in arts and crafts, pouring her creativity into beautiful creations that reflected her vibrant spirit. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a cherished member of the Bible Missionary Church in Crowley, LA.
