Leola was born February 21, 1933 in rural Iberia Parish to the late Osie and Rose Arceneaux Viator and passed away peacefully Friday, June 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was 86.
Mrs. Bonin was a proud homemaker and loved being home with her family. Throughout her life, she shared many pastimes with her husband and family. So many memories were made on camping trips, albeit short trips. The children shared and laughed at one trip to Six Flags in Dallas. They arrived that day and spent the evening at Six Flags, but left the very next day because of the rain. Both Mr. Junius and Mrs. Leola loved being home more than away. She and her husband also loved to dance, and Leola enjoyed trips to the Casino. Up until recently, she still hosted card games with her friends particularly Bourre’ at her home. It was easy to see that most of the special memories were centered around the family home. She is now resting in her eternal home with her husband and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her three sons, Keith Bonin and wife Linda of Pineville, Kenneth Bonin of Lafayette and Mike Bonin and wife Joy of New Iberia; her six grandchildren, Brian Bonin, Scott Bonin, Sara Dantin and husband Beau, Breigh Casanova and husband Brian, Alex Bonin and Ian Bonin; five great grandchildren, Daniel, Katherine and Claire Casanova and Isabel and Madelyn Dantin; and her sister, Betty Freyou.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Junius P. Bonin; and her sister and brother, Ruby Landry and Ray Viator.
Serving as pallbearers are Keith, Kenneth and Mike Bonin, Scott Bonin, Brian Casanova and Alex Bonin.
Masses may offered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for Mrs. Bonin in lieu of sending flowers
