NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Robert “Bob” Darrell Harrington, age 77, at 3:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2019 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service on Friday at Evangeline Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 pm.
A native of Crowley and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Harrington passed away at 7:43 am on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Iberia Manor North.
Mr. Harrington was a kind, gentle loyal man who was known affectionately as Bobby to his family.
He was employed with General Finance for many years before opening and managing Family Finance for 24 years.
Some of his hobbies included bowling and square dancing with his wife, reading the newspaper and fishing with his brother in law, Wiley.
He had a love for country music, cowboy boots, baseball caps, spending time at the beach and watching Saints Football. His greatest love was spending time with his family and telling stories of his upbringing.
He is survived by his wife of 50 plus years, Barbara Sylvester Harrington of New Iberia; three daughters, Sabrina H. Delcambre and Scott of New Iberia; Gina H. Gachassin and Roger, Jr. of Huntsville, AL and Holly Savoy and Spence of Youngsville, LA; nine grandchildren, Michael Delcambre and Ade; Jason Delcambre and Amber; Michelle Delcambre; Emily G. Martinez and Mike; Ryan Gachassin; Jenna G. Reyes and Josh; Blair Savoy; Elaine Savoy and Lauren Savoy; six great grandchildren, Danielle and Carina Delcambre; Catherine and Bradley Owens and Joshua and Amelia Reyes; one brother, David Harrington and Debbie of Columbus, MS and his aunt, Mary Lou Martin of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Joseph and Bertha Mae Istre Harrington, Jr. and one granddaughter, Kristi Delcambre.
Pallbearers will be Scott Delcambre, Spence Savoy, Roger Gachassin, Ryan Gachassin, Michael Delcambre and Jason Delcambre. Honorary pallbearers will be Wiley Sylvester, Guy Sylvester, Cole Passman, Lonnie Harrington, Charles Joubert, David Harrington, Brayton Eskine and Aaron Bird.
