Elmer A. Rinderle, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on November 13, 2018 at the age of 77. His beloved wife, Barbara of 56 years remained by his side and cared for him relentlessly throughout his long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Born January 28, 1941 in New Orleans, he is survived by his wife Barbara Englert Rinderle. Father of Theresa Rinderle Murphy (Kevin), Robert Paul Rinderle (Shayne), Shelly Rinderle Darwin (David), Daniel Joseph Rinderle (Shantell), and Peggy Rinderle Porche (Christian). He is the son of the late Elmer Alton Rinderle, Sr. and Verna Polit Rinderle; brother of Carol Rinderle Stauder; grandfather of Matthew, Michael and Brianna Darwin, William, Jonathan and Thomas Murphy, Christopher and Caroline Rinderle, Marissa and Ryan Rinderle, Samantha Porche; great-grandfather of Jace Darwin.
Elmer was employed at the New Orleans Clerks and Checkers, Union 1497 for more than 30 Years. He had fond memories of his riverfront gang who referred to him as Junior. He retired in 1997. He had a love for fishing and spending time at the camp. Elmer was also an avid gardener and planted a large vegetable garden year round harvesting many vegetables for everyone. Most of all, he was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
The family wishes to thank Notre Dame Hospice for the great care extended to Elmer and his family for the past 9 months.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 12 pm. Visitation is from 10 am until service time, followed by interment at All Saints Mausoleum.
