Gladys Savoy Catyb

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, in San Antonio, TX, Gladys Marie Catyb sadly went to be with Our Lord at age 88. Gladys was born on October 6, 1934 in St. Martinville, LA. She had one child, Vickie, with her first husband. She then met her second husband Joseph Catyb in New Iberia, LA. They wed on August 24, 1964, had two children, and remained married until his passing in 1985. Gladys was a homemaker who loved her family deeply. Her laugh was contagious and she brought joy and smiles to all that met her. She was a kind-hearted person who loved family gatherings and meeting new people. She was very loved and will be missed terribly. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Catyb, mother Elsie Fruge Savoy, a brother who died at birth, her father Junius Savoy, and stepmother Sophie Robicheaux Savoy. She is survived by her children Vickie Jackson and Joseph and Cheryl Anne Catyb; grandchildren Sean Donnelly, Christopher Donnelly, Brian Donnelly, Adrienne Donnelly, Ashley Catyb, Brandon Catyb, and Kaitlyn Gallina; siblings Gereline Frederick, Joyce Romero, Bernette Thibodeaux, Sarah Dupuis, Roy Savoy, and Leonard Savoy; and many beloved great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Though her passing is sad, there is peace knowing she is with Our Lord, her beloved husband and parents. A visitation will held be at the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA, on Friday, October 6, 2023, beginning at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 PM and interment at Masonic Cemetery No. 2. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
