June was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for most of her life.
She was the mother of 5 children, David A. Dogan Sr. of Metairie; Mary D. Burris of Baton Rouge; Carolyn D. Ryan of Jackson, WY; Lauren D. Wilt of Jefferson; and the late James W. Dogan. She was also the niece of the late Leslie and Theo Mancuso.
June was married to the late Loran Russell Dogan, the father of her 5 children. They were later divorced after
23 years of marriage.
June was the daughter of the late James (Colley) Kavlich and the late Rosalea Mancuso Kavlich. She traveled extensively when young as her parents were in show business and vaudeville. As members of a traveling troupe of entertainers they traveled from town to town weekly. As a result June would be enrolled in a new school every Monday and withdrawn every Friday. During the evening June sold admission tickets, redeemed coupons for prizes, and tended the concession stand.
June worked at Ochsner Foundation Hospital for 25 years as an Administrative Secretary before retiring in 1993.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Carol Martin Dogan of Metairie, and son-in-laws Louis Wilt of Jefferson and Nick Ryan of Jackson, WY.
Not to be forgotten are her close friends for over 50 years Jeannie and Russell Marshall.
Visitation is at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., Thursday 4-26-18, 11:00-1:00, followed by a brief service.
June will be laid to rest in a private service on Monday 4-30-18 at Metairie Cemetery.
Sadly, we no longer have a mother to tell our troubles to.
