Leah M. Zeno passed away on May 3, 2021 at the age of 93. She was born on March 14, 1928 to the late Theodore and Madeline Sears Minor in New Orleans and had been educated at McDonogh №.24 and Gilbert Academy. She attended Dillard University for two years and had been a member of the Altar Society and choir. After graduating, she worked as a teaching assistant. A devout woman, she faithfully said the Holy Rosary daily and enjoyed cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, and supporting both the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs football teams. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Elmo Zeno, and her brother, Theodore Minor, Jr. She is survived by: her daughter, Shanelle Z. James; her son, Reginald E. Zeno; her sister, Edna M. Johnson; her grandson, Brandon O. James; her great-grandchildren, Zoe C. James and Brandon O. James II; her son-in-law, Giles O. James; and her granddaughter-in-law, Janika P. James.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the Lafon Nursing Facility of the Holy Family, Touro Hospital, and Heart of Hospice (East Jefferson General Hospital) for their care and services rendered.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 7th, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament St. Joan of the Arc Catholic Church at 8321 Burthe St. in New Orleans from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by a funeral mass. Interment will take place at Restlawn Park Cemetery. Rev. Charles Andrus, SSJ will be officiating.
