Rose Rosenmeier, age 91, passed peacefully at home into eternal rest on January 19, 2022. She was born March 7, 1930, in Raton, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents Felicita and Hilario Martinez, her sister Susie Fernandez and brothers Louis, Jimmie and Adolph Martinez. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Wilfred C Rosenmeier, Jr., her daughter Debra (Michael) Holleman, her sons Robert Rosenmeier and Manuel Martinez, grandchildren Amber LaCuesta (Lacy Kelly), Joshua (Penny) LaCuesta, great-grandchildren Adalyn Kelly and Cora Jane LaCuesta, sister Mary Rodman (Frank). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose attended Raton High School and moved to New Orleans in her early twenties. She met her husband working at the El Ranchito Restaurant. She later worked at Miller Wohl for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Angela Merci Church. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Alter Society. She was a very spiritual person who loved saying the rosary, sometimes numerous times a day.
Rose will always be remembered as a kind, generous, loving person who helped so many people. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
The family would like to thank Hearts of Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Rose and the family. Also, much gratitude to her special caregiver during the last two years, Darnel Terril.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans on Saturday, January 29th from Noon until 2PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Society, or your favorite charity.
