On May 3, 2021, Shirley Labbé Dastugue passed away at Our Lady of Wisdom at the age of 94. Mrs. Dastugue was born in Abbeville, grew up in Houma, and eventually moved to New Orleans where she received her R.N. degree from the Charity School of Nursing and met her future husband Dr. Fernand Joseph Dastugue, Jr. She and her late husband were long-time supporters of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Orleans Opera Association. In retirement, they travelled extensively throughout the world. She had many passions in life, including dancing, listening to music, sewing, and needlework.
Mrs. Dastugue had been the beloved wife of Dr. Dastugue for 54 years prior to his death in 2010. She was also predeceased by her mother Eldies Landry Labbé, her father Waldo Joseph Labbé, Sr., her brother Waldo J. Labbé, Jr., and her sister Eldies Labbé Cenac. She is survived by her brother Norman Labbé and her sister Carol Labbé Matherne. She was the mother of Patrice Louise Dastugue Lill (Winston), Suzanne Marie Dastugue Mickler (Rick), and the late Michele Claire Dastugue; grandmother of James Joseph Mickler and Winston Carrington Lill, III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
