Gerald Working was born March 21, 1933 in Chili, Indiana. He was the son of Ora C. Working and Nina Kercher Working. Gary was the youngest of 4 children; sister, Geneva Zinn (D), Betty Working (D) and brother, Richard Working (D). Gary attended Gilead grade school and graduated from Peru High School in 1951. He served in the National Guard for 6 years and married Phyllis Hinton on March 12, 1955. They raised 4 children, Kimela Hoover, Holiday, Florida; Ronald Working (Spouse Sarah Martin Working-D), Spring Hill, Florida, Gerald "Drew"Working of Dunedin, Florida (Fiance Julie Taylor) and Ivy DelleChiaie(Spouse Ronnie DelleChiaie) of New Port Richey, Florida.
Gary was well known around Peru, Indiana, where he and Phyllis resided, from the local lumber yard to Insurance, to becoming a banker with Peru Trust in town and then managing the branch at Grissom Air Force Base, with banking becoming his niche for life. Gary was an avid golfer and played basketball with the Peru Jaycees. He loved football and tennis and served as Treasurer for the Little League Program. In 1973 Gary moved to Warsaw to manage the branch of Peru Federal Bank where he met more life-long friends. After his monumental golf trip to Florida with them, he decided he wasn't waiting for retirement to move and so he relocated to Florida in 1979. He then worked for Ellis Banks enjoying his "retirement State of Florida" while playing tennis, golfing and later retiring from Glendale Federal. His last 30 years were spent enjoying his 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren who meant the world to him. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed.
