Montine (Tina) Ryon of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on March 14, 2018. Tina was born in Cochran, Georgia on November 25, 1924, the daughter of William and Mattie Lou Benson, along with a sister, Irene and a brother, Guy. She grew up in Cochran, Hawkinsville and Macon, graduating from Miller High School. She met Pat Ryon in Macon, and they married on April 24, 1946. Pat was in the Navy, so Tina and Pat traveled the world compliments of the Navy. Together they raised four children, living in seven states and three countries. Tina became very adept at packing up the household and moving across the country or even across the ocean.
Tina is survived by her son Greg Ryon, daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Dale Vona, Patti and Steve Schuller and Sue and Scott Emmett. They gave her eight grandchildren: Tina Vona-Pergola, Kara Vona, Gretchen Schuller Mayer, Ryon Schuller, Allen Emmett, Eric Vona, Ariel Ryon and Sam Vona. She also has fifteen great grandchildren. In addition, Tina has many special nieces and nephews: Beverly, Sheila, Elaine, Alan, Howard, Niel, Deborah, Jenni, Norman, Norma, Glenna, Cheryl, Dwight, Duane, Judy and Donny. Finally, she is survived by her adopted family Ben, Sebi, Diellza and Ora as well as her special Starz Restaurant family and friends.
Tina loved her family, hosting get togethers and always having plenty of food for everyone. She was very friendly and outgoing. She was interested in everyone she met and had a way of “getting to know” everyone she came in contact with. People knew she cared about them more than just the meal they were serving her or the bank deposit she was making. She enjoyed sitting outside and waving to all who passed by.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visiting/viewing hours will be 11:00 am on Saturday, March 24 at Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Gardens in New Port Richey. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm with a graveside service immediately after.
