He was a graduate of Mackey High School and Evansville College. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Eugene worked for Orr Iron Company until the late 70’s and retired as a Manufacturer’s Representative for the United Machinery Sales, specializing in CNC equipment.
Before and after retirement, he worked many years during the summer meet at Ellis Park and Churchill Downs. He was an avid horseracing fan, and loved flying, trap shooting, and auto racing.
He was a Member of the Hadi Shrine Temple and Kapperman Post #44 American Legion in Newburgh.
Eugene is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, and son, Keith Baker both of Newburgh; brother, David Baker of Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews.
His body will be cremated at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh. According to his wishes, there will be no memorial service or viewing.
