Jennie Julia (Scarlato) Gelardo 83 of Boonville, IN, formerly of Cedarville, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 25, 2018. She was born on June 11, 1935 to the late Maria (Macera) and Anthony Scarlato.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul John Gelardo; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Jennie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jo. Gelardo of Boonville, IN; son, Peter John Gelardo Jr. and partner (M. Lee Hutmire) of Crooksville, OH; grandson, Derrick Jon Gelardo (Amanda) of Boonville, IN; granddaughter Rebekka Lynn (Gelardo) Patterson (Buck) of Cambridge, OH; 5 great-granddaughters, Amber, Emily, Kaitlyn, Breanna and Julia; 2 brothers, Anthony Scarlato Jr. (Carla) of Fort Worth, TX, Michael Scarlato of Cedarville, NJ, 1 uncle, Sam Macera of OH; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins.
She retired in the early 90’s from the casinos in Atlantic City, NJ after many years. After retirement, she became a Co-owner of Country Bumpkin Ceramics and Gifts, a company she started with her children and grandchildren. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School Bridgeton, NJ and of Cumberland County College of Vineland, NJ. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cedarville, NJ and was the church organist for many years before moving to Indiana. She was a current member of Boonville First Assembly of God Boonville, IN. She was a lifetime Member of the Woman of the Moose in Bridgton, NJ and held many offices over the years. Her interests included sewing, bird-watching, ceramics, playing piano, watching food network, and spending time with loved ones.
