Joe,
I will always remember you as a part of my family, an angel watching over my dad and a hero for my sisters and I. Your Naval service inspired me to want to follow in your footsteps and serve my country. Although you teased me about joining the wrong service, you were always there to encourage me throughout my Army career. I will forever miss seeing you walk across the street, coffee cup in hand ready to give my dad a hard time about the "little chingaderas". Papa Joe, no words can ever describe how much you meant to me and how much you influenced me in everything I did. Though you fought in "the forgotten war" you will never be forgotten. It is an honor to have known you, rest in peace old man.

Ruth, Teresa and Joey,
I know it is not easy accepting a loss as big as yours, but take comfort in all the beautiful memories he left you with. Keep them close to your heart, so that he may always be with you. You are forever a part of our family,and if you're ever in need all you have to do is cross the street where someone will be waiting with open arms. 

Remember too that while we say our good bye an angel happily awaits Joe's arrival. He has earned a place among them, where he will patiently wait until the day you meet again.

Papa Joe & The Barney's,  
It hurts deeply to see you go, as much as we try to prepare ourselves for the loss of a loved one, one is never ready. Papa Joe you were like a grandfather to my sisters and I. You have always been there for us to show us the simple things in life, to teach us hard work and you've also been a loving person. Thank you for everything you have encouraged me to be. Thank you for all your great sailor stories and the motivation you've given me towards my Naval career. Ruth, Joey & Teresa may you be happy every time you think of Papa Joe and remember always the kindness of his heart, the humor in his personality and the everlasting love he gave. Don't worry Papa Joe we will take care of Nana Ruth for you and I know you will watch over us wherever we go. We miss and love you dearly. May you rest in peace!

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

No words can express the kindness and love you had with my children. My family and I will all forever be grateful for everything you did for us.We couldn't be more blessed to have met such a kind,loving,selfless and helpful person such as yourself. From the simple car rides home,to the life lessons and lectures, to the birthday parties & to sporting events,You were always there for every single one of us.We may not have been blood,but you will always be family. We love you  & will greatly miss you Poppa Joe.

Mr Barney,
You have done what we all aspire to do... You have reached the Garden of Eden. You are the most sincere person I have met. You brought humor to every conversation and every situation we shared. I am privileged to have had the honor of being your friend and neighbor. I am grateful to God for putting you in my path, your friendship has been invaluable to me. Your words of wisdom will help me lead my life in the right way. The memories of you will always make me smile. You said you were ready to go but my family and I will miss you dearly.

For a long time our big friendship grew, something that will make evergreen at over the years.
As the great friend that was the one who always gave without asking anything in exchange, and received warmly with taste and samples of grateful,  he was the one who never lacked a funny phrase and sometimes in the middle of adversity, always taking life with playful humor.
Rest in peace Joe. a light that shut down, but God turns on one, for us in the universe as one of the stars more brilliant.

To Ruth, Teresa and Joey, I am so sorry for your loss.  Joe was a great man that made you laugh and love life.  I have so many great memories of camping with you guys.  One memory that comes to mind is driving around Sacramento lost trying to find wineries and places to eat cheese. My brother, Kevin and I had a great childhood and a lot had to do with going camping with the Barneys.  Love you guys.  Miss you all.

Michel and I will always remember the funny stories you told us, and how you made us laugh.   We will take good care of Teresa here at TCS, and are happy to have called you an Honorary TCS, Employee.

Thoughts & prayers are with all of you.   I have many memories of growing up on Fairweather St.  Many of those memories were going camping with Joe.  One last question Joe is Sonora Pass Open?

Joel,
I feel sad to know that I will not see you again. I will miss you teasing me about averything. I thank you for keeping an eye on me when I walked home from school, for giving me advise about keeping my family heritage and for talking to me about the military and the "crispy criters". Your home will never be the same without you.
I will miss seeing you in your white T-shirt and jeans. I will miss your smile but most of all I will miss your bright blue eyes. I'm glad you have found peace. I know your humor will keep God smiling. You are a great person and you will always be remembered. <3
