George Robert “Bob” McKay Jr, 85, of Northbrook, formerly of Chicago, passed away January 5, 2018. Beloved husband of Janet nee Gustafson; loving father of James (Rachel) McKay, Deborah (Michael) Kennedy and Thomas (Lisa) McKay; cherished grandfather of Matthew Kennedy, Brian Kennedy, Shannon (Brent) Shiver, Michael Kennedy II, Ryan (Nicole) McKay, Connor McKay, Patrick McKay, Maddie McKay and Nina McKay; adoring great-grandfather of Jackson Shiver; and proud papa of Tsunami. Bob was born in Chicago and grew up in Evanston. He graduated from Northwestern University, where he played football. After college, he served in the US Navy during the Korean War and remained in the Naval Reserves in the years following. While in the Naval Reserves Bob became a banker, which became his career. Bob was always very active and was an avid skier, sailor and fisherman. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
