

Rita Anderson, age 91, longtime resident of Dolton, Manteno, and Olympia Fields, IL, passed away quietly in Orland Park with family by her side, April 2, 2020. She was born Margarita Spagnolo, in Rotzo, Italy, February 18, 1929. Soon after, she and her parents, Amedeo and Angelina Spagnolo, moved to Chicago. Rita attended Pullman Elementary School and Fenger High School.
Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph A. Anderson, Jr. and her sister, Ada DePeso. She is survived by her brother, Franklin Spagnolo of San Diego, CA, her four daughters and sons-in-law: Gwyn and Ron Weber, Beverly and Reed Berger, Leslie and Dan Williams, Sally and Mark Caputo; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Rita was a proud homemaker, Brownie Girl Scout leader, and Sunday School teacher. She was an expert seamstress, sewing many of her daughters’ special occasion dresses. She enjoyed cooking and loved reading her cookbook collection. She was a lifelong member of the Izaak Walton League in Dolton. She worked for Jewel Food store in Dolton for 20 years as a cashier. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly.
