Aden "Bud" Earl Barrett Jr.

Aden Earl "Bud" Barrett Jr., 96, passed away Friday April 16, 2021 in Norman Oklahoma. He was born in Cromwell Oklahoma to Aden Earl Barrett Sr. and Hazel White Barrett on January 31, 1925. Due to his father working in the oil fields, he was born in a tent. Bud graduated from Bowlegs High School.

Bud was a Marine Veteran. He enlisted in Chicago, Illinois on June 11, 1943. His rank was Staff Sergeant. His service was the central Pacific area. Bud participated in the Marianas and Marshall Islands operations. He was Honorably Discharged on November 20, 1945. He was proud of his service. His name is on the WWII Memorial in Reaves Park in Norman, Ok. Bud was also very proud he got to participate in one of the final Honor Flights to Washington DC in 2015.

After the service, Bud lived in several states including Illinois and Kansas. While in Kansas, he was a member of the Larned Kiwanis in 1950 and was the Laws and Regulations Chairman. He returned to Oklahoma and lived in Norman the rest of his life. Bud's jobs included working at Anthony's Department Store as well as TG&Y and Clarks Stores. In 1970, he started work at the US Postal service where he worked until retirement in 1990.

He enjoyed sitting on the porch, reading, listening to country music, telling stories and visiting with people. Bud never met a stranger and had a great sense of "Irish" humor. He was baptized into the Church of Christ.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Barrett. His parents; sisters Ruby Gilpin and Lucille Lynch, and daughter Judy Watson.

He is survived by daughters Lisa Wheeler and husband Danny, Dana Domstead and husband Jon, and sons Mark Barrett and Mike Barrett. Granddaughters Megan Wheeler, Tammy Watson and Kenna Mason and husband Jeff. Grandsons Grant Domstead and wife Taylor, Ryan Domstead and wife Taelor, and Jason Watson. He is survived by six great grandchildren. Bud is also survived by his cat buddy, Blue.

His family loves him and will miss him dearly.

Visitation with family and friends will be at Primrose Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Thursday April 22, 2021. Graveside services will be Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 am at Norman IOOF Cemetery.

Dear Tammy and Jason, I'm so sorry for your loss. My first rememberance of your Grandfather was when Judy and I would go to Anthony's to see him. This was junior high/high school aged. I know how much Judy loved him.
