Melia was born in Leonville, Louisiana on April 12, 1931 to Edwin Quebedeaux and Euphemie (Bernard) Quebedeaux. She grew up in Arnaudville, Louisiana, and graduated high school in 1948.
Melia met the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Gene Kersey in Shreveport, Louisiana. The two wed in August of 1954. Shortly after their marriage, the two moved to Norman to be closer to Gene’s family.
Melia started work at Norman Regional Hospital, formerly Norman Municipal Hospital, in 1955. Where she worked until 1995 as a Unit Secretary. Melia had a true passion for frogs and collected many over the years, receiving them as gifts from friends and family.
Melia is preceded in death by her loving husband Gene, her parents, her four brothers: Pierre, Marcel, Lawrence and Leo.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her nieces Teena Cole of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Suzanne West of San Antonio, Texas. Her Nephew Dwayne Quebedeaux of Lafayette, Louisiana. Her sister-in-law Betty Quebedeaux of Arnaudville, Louisiana.

Her funeral service will be at Primrose Funeral Service in Norman on Tuesday, June 2 at 10:00AM with burial to follow at Warren Cemetery.
