Richard (Dick) Elwyn Emery, of Fort Myers, Florida passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017 at home. This followed a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on March 27, 1934 in Spencerport, New York to Lester and Grace (Love) Emery. He lived in New York and Florida with a brief stint in the United States Army as an Armorer from 1957 – 1959. Richard is survived by his wife, Isabel and his four daughters: Tamar “Tammy” Martens (Robert) of Hallandale Beach, FL, Susan “Susie” Lambert (Jeff) of Toccoa, GA, Connie Quintana (Julio) of Arlington, TX, and Sophia “Sophie” (Martinez-Franken (Christopher) of Fort Myers, FL. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Sarah Lambert, Shelby Ivester (Joshua), Marangeliz Baer (Joshua), Joshua Quintana, & Zackery Quintana and two great grandchildren: Joshua Baer, Jr & Emery Elizabeth Ivester. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Margie Emery, and one grandson Julio Quintana, Jr. He spent most of his working career in the shipping industry employed by various medical supply and research companies. He was extremely active in the Florida Chapter of Delta Nu Alpha. He spent his last 15 years at Coulter Corporation before his retirement (1993). He was a deacon and an elder in the Presbyterian church for many years, routinely volunteered to greet and usher, helped with new member classes, and routinely participated in community outreach days. He was a member of Mc Gregor Baptist since 2007. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, growing orchids and cacti, photography, collecting stamps, astronomy, attending unlimited hydroplane races, and spending time with his family. Richard will be truly missed by his family and friends and will always remain in our hearts. Celebration of his life will be at 10:30AM on Friday, December 1st, 2017 at Mc Gregor Baptist Church, Room H100, 3750 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33966.
