Gilbert L. Fraley, 79, of Jacksonville passed away Monday, October 15th. He was born in Rosebud, Arkansas to parents John LaVere and Edna Talithia Fraley. At the age of 18, Gilbert joined the U. S. Army and shortly afterward joined the United States Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years before retiring. He was a Vietnam Veteran. After retiring from the Air Force, Gilbert went on to work for Dassault Falcon Jet for an additional 26 years.
He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church and served for in many capacities, especially the food pantry. Gilbert loved to bass fish and was an avid Razorback fan. Above all else, he loved his family; his grandchildren were his special pride and joy.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Donald Fraley and Jimmy Fraley; sister, Vera Quattlebum and a son, Johnny Fraley.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Leann Aamodt Fraley; sons, Mitchell (Carlie) Fraley and Chad Fraley; daughter Pam Fraley (Bill) Vasquez; brothers, Larry (Dorothy) Fraley and Tommy (Jane)Fraley; Grandchildren Tyler, Payton, Kara, Billy, Daniel, Cody, Kayla, Kenneth, Michelle, Christian and Matt ; 7 Greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18th at Hope Lutheran Church, 1904 McArthur Drive, Jacksonville with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19th at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
