Rosette Moricette, aged 71, passed away on July 27, 2021, peacefully at a hospital in Miami, FL. She was born on December 31, 1949, in Port-de-Paix, Haiti. Rosette, the Matriarch of the family, was the last born child of Dorvil and Velcina Desinor. Her father, Dorvil Desinor, was a farmer, while her mother, Velcina Vilcent Desinor, was an entrepreneur. Rosette had three older sisters; Ana Sanon, Gislaine Eugene, and Naomi Desinor, and two older brothers, Dieudone (Goerge) Desinor and Mathieu Desinor. She was together with her beloved husband, Noclés Moricette, for 52 years and shared two daughters, Mona Lisa Mauricette Choe & Nancy Moricette, and two sons, Benji Moricette & Kerry Moricette. She was loved and respected by countless family members whom she helped raise with a strong, compassionate hand.
Rosette was a pioneering woman, living life one adventure at a time and pushing the boundaries of what was deemed culturally and socially acceptable for Haitian women in this era. She was fierce and unapologetic about justice, morality, integrity, and family. She was a hardworking, resourceful, and very proud woman. She owned several businesses while in Haiti. “Mwen pral jwenn yon fason” was always her motto. (Translation: “I will find a way”). She was a family hero and historian, always ready to enlighten all about historical family figures and events.
Rosette moved to the United States in the early ‘70s and worked as a Companion for several years, then as a hotel staff housekeeper at several large companies in Miami. She worked in the hospitality industry for many years until she retired. She saw the American story come full circle. She was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church and was one of their finest vocal soloists. She dedicated her life to enriching communities as well as supporting and inspiring others. She leaves behind a legacy of decades of service to several church fellowships and communities in Miami that she cherished.
Rosette is survived by her loving husband Noclés Moricette; children, Mona Lisa Mauricette Choe, Benji Moricette, Kerry Moricette, Nancy Moricette, and first daughter Hyarise (Yoyole) Aristide from a previous partnership; grandchildren, Seth Moricette, Sebastien Moricette, Sarai Moricette, Jean-Max Hyarisson Lucate (Tchyard) and Hyazmine Lisa Aristide; siblings, Gislaine Eugene, Naomi Desinor, and Mathieu Desinor; son-like nephews-Serge, Remy, and Andre Sanon; son-in-law, Peter (Pierre) Choe; daughter-in-law, Susan Moricette and numerous other beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by both her parents, Dorvil and Velcina Desinor; siblings, Ana Sanon and Dieudone (Goerge) Desinor and grand-daughter, Nicolette Moricette.
