Dad set the bar high for all us with his strong commitment to family, and the floral industry. He loved his family and friends and was an example to us all until his last breath. Dad’s love and care for our Mother and Brother was inspirational and without compare. We were truly blessed to have him as a Father and Grandfather.
Dad founded Sunshine State Carnations in 1960 family owned flower production farms consisting of approximately 70 acres located in Martin County, Florida. The family owned business has been owned and operated for over 55 years by Ole and his sons Peter, Eric, and prior to his death, Chris.
Dad had extensive contributions and involvement in the floriculture industry. He was a Member of the Board of the Society of American Florists. He was Chairman and Member of the Board of the American Floral Endowment, as well Chairman and Board Member of Hortica Insurance Company f/n/a Florists Mutual Insurance Company. Dad was also Founding Member of the Florida Ornamental Growers Association n/k/a Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association. He was an inductee of the Floriculture Hall of Fame. Dad was also a Member of the Board of Grove City College.
The Family thanks Dr. Israel Wacks, Dr. Dan Peters, and Dr. Ron Schriar for their kindness and amazing medical care; without them the journey for all of us would have been much harder. Ole and his Family were blessed to have Jim Bock, his grandson Chris, and Sherene Duhaney as caregivers; you made Dad’s life better every day and we cannot thank you enough.
