He is lovingly remembered by his wife Margit, his children David (Melita), Kathryn (Steve), and Jill (Doug), his grandchildren Alex (Gillian), Andrew (Courtnee), Devorah, Brayden, Matthew, Anneken, Jackson, and Katrina, his sister Lorna, and his nieces Janet and Marilyn.
Tom was born in Hong Kong on January 9, 1928. He received his medical degree from the University of British Columbia in 1954, and spent four decades practicing as an otolaryngologist in East Vancouver. He also served for many years as Chief of Staff at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital.
He met the woman of his dreams on a blind date. They married on June 4, 1955 and enjoyed 65 years together.
In his spare time, Tom enjoyed travelling and went on many trips around the world. In his younger days, he got his pilot’s licence and enjoyed flying around the Fraser Valley in single engine air and float planes. He also loved to read, walk the dog, play his piano, and watch war movies. He had a great sense of humour, and he loved to laugh, tell jokes, and play the occasional dinnertime prank on his children and grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
