Heaven opened on the evening of September 12, 2019 when Waveney (Bonnie) Fung-A-Ling Loughheed said her final goodbye at age 94. Born June 2nd, 1925 in Guyana, she followed her calling to become a nurse in England and later worked as a paralegal alongside her sister Elaine, at Alcan in Montreal. Upon retirement, they moved to Vancouver where they enjoyed their life with new and old friends. Bonnie will once again be reunited with Elaine in the memory garden of St Catherine's Anglican Church in North Vancouver.
Bonnie's passion for learning was limitless and her accomplishments immense. She was a tennis aficionado, gifted poet, painter, mah-jong and card player. Mostly, she was the embodiment of 'Mind, Body and Spirit'.
Bonnie is predeceased by her sister Elaine and brother Whitty. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family including: her brother Claude (Hilda), her nieces and nephew, Valerie (Pierre), Patricia, Margaret and Michael (Kadiji), and great nieces and nephews, Marie-Eve, Chloe, Elise, Max and Yannick. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, wisdom and love and her kind and compassionate spirit. Her positive attitude will live forever in our hearts.
Bonnie's life will be celebrated privately on Sunday, October 27 – 2pm at St-Catherine’s Anglican Church, North Vancouver.
Family and friends are welcome to leave their messages of condolences on this Dignity memory page. Funeral arrangements are in the care of First Memorial. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her name to The North Shore Hospice, North Vancouver (www.coastalpalliativecare.ca/donations/).
A quote from Bonnie’s recent memoirs:
"Here in Westerleigh Parc I am at peace with a life sublime!
Don't be sorry when my journey ends and to my heavenly home go.
Remember me with a smile and know how much I loved you all so!
I hope I know the password when I get to the pearly gate!!!"
