Alexander Iachtchouk, aka Alex or Sasha, was born in Odessa, Ukraine on October 18, 1949 and passed away in Richmond Hill, Ontario on September 17, 2020. He was educated at the Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications and immigrated to Canada in 1991, where he took on life in a new country like a true captain; navigating bravely through all turbulences, big or small. Growing up on the Black Sea he loved the water hence spent most of his free time on Ontario lakes sailing or fishing. His deep sense of honor and duty was respected by all. Being down to earth he put importance on work, providing for his family and taking greatest pleasures from the camaraderie in sailing, the solitude of fishing and the joys of being in the company of family and friends. Predeceased by his wife Natasha, he will be missed as a caring father to daughter Masha (Mark) Carey, son Andrew (Emily) Iachtchouk and loving grandfather to Maksim, Mia, Luke, Luna and Lucy. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2:30 pm at Highland Hills Cemetery, 12492 Woodbine Avenue, Gormely, Ontario.
Sasha spent his final days at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill. For this brief time Hill House Hospice provided a peaceful setting, a place of comfort and care for him and visitors. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation in his memory to Hill House Hospice would be appreciated.
