Carla Lee

Carla Lee, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on December 9th with her family by her side at Hospice of West Alabama. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a profound impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Her parents were William Oliver Burkhalter Sr. and Lula Mae Loftis.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Douglas Lee, her son Daryl Lee (Kimberly) and granddaughter Miranda Nicole Lee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Norma Joyce West (Ralph) of Hueytown and Lacressa Marcum (Paul) of Arlington Texas and one brother Williams Oliver Burkhalter Jr. of Tuscaloosa.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home with the Celebration of Life Funeral Service following. the final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

During her 75 years, Carla found joy in life's simple pleasures, with a special fondness for the beach. Whether it was the calming waves or the warmth of the sun, she often visited the beach with her husband and granddaughter, creating cherished memories that will forever linger in our hearts.

Carla had a green thumb and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard that reflected her love for nature's beauty. Her gardens were a source of inspiration and tranquility for those who had the privilege of visiting. She found solace in the simple act of nurturing and cultivating life.

One of Carla's most remarkable qualities was her innate ability to be a mother not only to her own child but to all the children in the neighborhood, especially the J Club. Her home was a haven of laughter, support, and guidance.

Carla Lee will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember and celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who brought light and love into our lives.
